課程概述

Sophomore Composition is a one-year foundation course that helps students advance their writing skills. For this semester (first semester), we will first concentrate on prewriting skills and strategies (brainstorming topics, finding the writer’s voice, outlining, etc.), before introducing the basics of writing an essay. Then, we will turn to developing skills in writing essays (narration and description). For the second semester, we will concentrate on writing expository and argumentative essays, before we turn to writing a short research paper.

課程目標
This course aims to help students develop confidence and skills in using English at university level. By the end of this course, students will be able to:
• write English in a clear and coherent manner
• use an appropriate range of vocabulary and sentences in their writing
• organise ideas and structure a compelling argument
• produce essays on academic and general interest topics
• demonstrate the ability to revise and edit written work
